Chief Minister is the head of the Government of the State.

  • Article 163: Council of ministers will be headed by Chief Minister that will advise government
  • Article 164: Chief minister will be appointed by the Governor.
  • According to Article 164 (4) of the Constitution of India a Minister who for any period of six consecutive months is not a member of the Legislature of the State shall at the expiration of that period cease to be a Minister.
  • The assembly of UP is Bicameral, that means it have both Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.
