Prof S Shivdas and Deepa Balsavar win Big Little Book Award 2021

  • Prof. S. Sivadas, a renowned children's book author, and illustrator Deepa Balsavar were honoured with the Big Little Book Award (BLBA 2021) for their important contributions to Indian children's literature.
  • Deepa Balsavar, a Mumbai-based artist, was named the winner in the illustration category.
  • The Big Little Book Award (BLBA 2021) received 490 nominations during the nomination period, which ran from May to June 2021.
  • This year's chosen language for the author category was Malayalam, while the illustration category permitted nominations in any language.
  • The Big Little Book Award was created by the Tata Trusts' Parag initiative to recognise and honour authors and illustrators who have made major contributions to children's reading in the Indian language (s).
  • Every year, one Indian language is chosen as the recipient of an author prize. This year Malayalam has been kept as the official language of 2021.
