  • Every year on October 31, the world celebrates World Savings Day/World Thrift Day. However, it is observed annually on October 30 in India.
  • World Savings Day, also known as World Thrift Day, was established to educate people all over the world about the importance of saving money in a bank rather than keeping it under their mattress.
  • On October 31, 1924, during the 1st International Savings Bank Congress (World Society of Savings Banks) in Milano, Italy, World Savings Day was established.
