Every year on October 31, the world celebrates World Savings Day/World Thrift Day. However, it is observed annually on October 30 in India.
World Savings Day, also known as World Thrift Day, was established to educate people all over the world about the importance of saving money in a bank rather than keeping it under their mattress.
On October 31, 1924, during the 1st International Savings Bank Congress (World Society of Savings Banks) in Milano, Italy, World Savings Day was established.
