  • The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that by 2050, there will be an 85% increase in cancer cases and deaths in the Southeast Asia region. 
  • This increase is expected to result in a significant rise in new cancer diagnoses and related mortality.
  • In 2022, there were 2.4 million new cancer cases in the region, including 56,000 children, and 1.5 million cancer-related deaths. Among all WHO regions, Southeast Asia reported the highest cases of lip and oral cavity, cervical, and childhood cancers. 
  • WHO estimates that by 2050, there will be an 85% increase in new cancer cases and deaths in this region.
