Uttarakhand Foundation Day is celebrated annually on November 9 to mark the creation of Uttarakhand as India’s 27th state in 2000. Carved out from Uttar Pradesh under the Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000, the state was initially named Uttaranchal and renamed Uttarakhand in 2007. Known as Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods), the state is famous for spiritual sites like Kedarnath and Badrinath, natural beauty, and a tourism-driven economy. In 2025, Uttarakhand celebrates its Silver Jubilee, highlighting 25 years of progress, cultural heritage, and sustainable development with programs, exhibitions, and a development roadmap.
