Union Minister Prof. SP Singh Baghel unveiled the report on "The Status of Transfer of Panchayats in States," in which Uttar Pradesh made a remarkable improvement, jumping from 15th to 5th place. This index encourages states to empower panchayats.
The report emphasizes making panchayats strong centers of local governance, enabling them to provide pensions, birth-death certificates, and other basic services. Digital transformation, transparency, and anti-corruption measures are considered key factors in panchayat development.
