Category : National Published on: November 28 2025
The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has recommended the phased establishment of the Goa Tiger Reserve. In the first phase, 468.6 sq km, including around 102 households, would be notified as core and buffer zones. A later phase may add 208 sq km, encompassing 612 households. The approach aims to balance tiger conservation with local community concerns. The Supreme Court will review the report in the ongoing case between the Goa government and NGO Goa Foundation, marking a significant step for wildlife protection in Goa.
