  • One of the most celebrated freedom fighters of India, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 at Cuttack in Odisha and his birthday or Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti is being celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas’ (day of valour) since last year.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named 21 largest unnamed islands of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees on Parakram Divas.
  • PM Modi has also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island.
  • Keeping in mind the historical significance of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and to honor the memory of Netaji, Ross Islands was renamed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep by the Prime Minister during his visit to the Island in 2018. Neil Island and Havelock Island were also renamed as Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep.
  • Last year, on the occasion of Netaji's 125th birth anniversary, the Prime Minister had unveiled the hologram statue of the freedom fighter at India Gate in Delhi.
