The Sixteenth Finance Commission chaired by Dr. Arvind Panagariya has submitted its report for 2026-27 to 2030-31 to the President of India. Constituted under Article 280(1), the Commission examined tax devolution between the Union and States, criteria for state-wise allocations, grants-in-aid, and disaster management financing. After extensive consultations with governments and experts, the findings were compiled in two volumes covering five financial years. The report will be made public once tabled in Parliament under Article 281 and will shape India’s fiscal federal framework for 2026–31.
