Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais from the UAE has made history as the first woman to lead UN Tourism in its 50-year history. Confirmed during the 123rd Executive Council session in Segovia, Spain, her term as Secretary-General will begin in January 2026 for four years. An accomplished business leader with 16 years of experience, she has served as Corporate Vice President at Rotana Hotels and Chair of Abu Dhabi Chamber’s Tourism Working Group. Her leadership will focus on sustainable tourism, innovation, and women’s empowerment globally.
