Sanjay Garg, a 1994-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, has assumed charge as the Director General of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), effective 1 November 2025. With over three decades of administrative experience, he has worked across sectors including agriculture, defence, industry, and finance. Earlier, as Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR, he led the digital transformation of agricultural research and expanded the Kisan Sarathi portal. Shri Garg has also managed World Bank projects and promoted industrial reforms. As DG, he will also serve as President of India’s National Committee in IEC.
