Economist and agricultural expert S Mahendra Dev has been appointed chairperson of the EAC-PM for a two-year tenure. He succeeds Suman Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, who had been serving in the interim after the demise of former chair Bibek Debroy in November 2024. Mahendra Dev is known for his work on rural development, public policy, and as editor of the 'Economic and Political Weekly'.
