  • UGC has directed all educational institutions to abolish M.Phil courses.
  • All educational institutions will not be able to give admission in this course from the year 2023-24.
  • UGC has clarified that M.Phil degrees awarded before the publication of the new law in 2022 will be valid.
  • M.Phil is a 2 year postgraduate academic research degree.
  • It is considered equivalent to Ph.D.
  • M.Phil has been abolished under the National Education Policy, 2020.
