M.Phil means Master of Philosophy.
Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the de-recognition of M.Phil degree.
UGC has directed all educational institutions to abolish M.Phil courses.
All educational institutions will not be able to give admission in this course from the year 2023-24.
UGC has clarified that M.Phil degrees awarded before the publication of the new law in 2022 will be valid.
M.Phil is a 2 year postgraduate academic research degree.
It is considered equivalent to Ph.D.
M.Phil has been abolished under the National Education Policy, 2020.
