The Codex Alimentarius Commission is a United Nations agency.
It is a food safety and quality standard-setting body.
India has become a member of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in December, 2023.
India has been unanimously elected as the member representing the Asian region in this commission.
Becoming its member will provide India an opportunity to contribute significantly to the international standard setting process for various food product categories.
Codex Alimentarius Commission was established in the year 1963 AD.
Currently it has 189 country members.
