A new species of lizard has recently been discovered in the northeastern state of Mizoram.
Scientists have named it 'Gecko Mizoramensis'.
This gecko lizard has been discovered by researchers from Mizoram University and Max Planck Institute for Biology.
This lizard is a new species like other flying geckos which is about 20 centimeters long.
It is nocturnal and glides from one tree to another.
It is one of the 14 species of gecko that can glide in the air.
Geckos are found in almost all continents except Antarctica. These colorful lizards have adapted to live in everything from rainforests to deserts and cold mountain slopes.
Of the 335 lizard species in the world, 42 species are found in India.
