  • A new species of lizard has recently been discovered in the northeastern state of Mizoram.
  • Scientists have named it 'Gecko Mizoramensis'.
  • This gecko lizard has been discovered by researchers from Mizoram University and Max Planck Institute for Biology.
  • This lizard is a new species like other flying geckos which is about 20 centimeters long.
  • It is nocturnal and glides from one tree to another.
  • It is one of the 14 species of gecko that can glide in the air.
  • Geckos are found in almost all continents except Antarctica. These colorful lizards have adapted to live in everything from rainforests to deserts and cold mountain slopes.
  • Of the 335 lizard species in the world, 42 species are found in India.
