Category : State Published on: November 15 2025
Punjab has become the first state in India to implement the amended Bharat Net Scheme across its entire territory, enabling real-time monitoring of the border state from anywhere in the country. Chief Secretary KAP Sinha received the award for this achievement, noting that broadband connectivity has been extended to 43 shadow areas, with only one village left to cover. By the end of November, every village is expected to be connected. The Bharat Net Scheme aims to provide broadband access to Gram Panchayats, households, and institutions, supporting e-health and e-governance services in rural areas.
