Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend this year's Bastille Day Parade in Paris as the guest of honour on July 14.
An Indian armed forces' contingent will also participate in the parade along with their French counterparts.
PM Modi's visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the "strategic partnership" between France and India.
India has purchased 36 Rafale fighter jets from France. French-owned shipbuilder Naval Group has helped build six submarines in India through a transfer of technology and the company could be eyeing more such deals.
In February, Air India agreed to purchase 250 commercial airplanes from Airbus.
Total goods trade between France and India approached $15.8 billion in 2022, a 6% increase from the previous year.
Bastille Day is named after the fall of a fortress that symbolised the French revolution of 1789.
In 2016, French President François Hollande was the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade. Beside the UK, France is the only other country that has been invited by India 5 times to take part in the parade. Russia and Bhutan have each been invited four times.
In 2009, French President Nicolas Sarkozy had invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the Bastille Day parade as the guest of honour.
