Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first automobile in-plant railway siding at Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India.
The in-plant railway siding at SMG is part of the government's Gati Shakti program and aims to reduce carbon footprint in logistics, decrease fossil fuel consumption, and alleviate road congestion.
This project, a collaboration between Maruti and Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development (G-RIDE), will enable the dispatch of 300,000 cars annually to 15 destinations across India, contributing to sustainable mobility and fostering efficiencies in logistics.
