NITI Aayog launched a policy report titled ‘Expanding Quality Higher Education through States and State Public Universities’.
NITI Aayog’s report on State Public Universities (SPUs) provides 80 policy recommendations and 125 Performance Success Indicators to improve quality, governance, funding, and employability in higher education, aligning with NEP 2020 and Viksit Bharat 2047 goals.
With 80% of India’s higher education happening in SPUs, the report emphasizes their crucial role in doubling enrolment to 9 crore students by 2035 and transforming them into world-class institutions through targeted reforms and funding initiatives like PM-USHA.
