  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has inaugurated an e-learning platform named "Bharat Vidya".
  • Bharat Vidya is a first-of-its-kind online learning platform that is dedicated to Indology, South Asian, and Oriental studies, related to art, architecture, language, philosophy, etc.
  • It is designed and developed by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) and will offer six courses: Veda Vidya, Bharatiya Darshanshastra, Fundamentals of Archaeology, Sanskrit Learning, 18 Parvas of Mahabharata, Works of Kalidasa and Bhasha.
  • BORI was established in 1917 in Pune, Maharashtra, and is known as one of the largest collectors of manuscripts in Sanskrit and Prakrit languages, and rare books.
  • Many courses have been designed on the lines of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. 
  • BORI has collaborated with a few Indian and foreign universities for awarding credits for some of its courses.
