Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has inaugurated an e-learning platform named "Bharat Vidya".
Bharat Vidya is a first-of-its-kind online learning platform that is dedicated to Indology, South Asian, and Oriental studies, related to art, architecture, language, philosophy, etc.
It is designed and developed by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) and will offer six courses: Veda Vidya, Bharatiya Darshanshastra, Fundamentals of Archaeology, Sanskrit Learning, 18 Parvas of Mahabharata, Works of Kalidasa and Bhasha.
BORI was established in 1917 in Pune, Maharashtra, and is known as one of the largest collectors of manuscripts in Sanskrit and Prakrit languages, and rare books.
Many courses have been designed on the lines of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
BORI has collaborated with a few Indian and foreign universities for awarding credits for some of its courses.
