Scientists from the Botanical Survey of India have discovered a new flowering plant species, Dicliptera pakhalica, in Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary, Telangana, and formally described it in the journal Brittonia. Found during floristic surveys near streams and waterfalls, the species shows distinct morphological traits confirming it as unique. It belongs to the Acanthaceae family and flowers between November and January. The discovery highlights the rich biodiversity of the Eastern Ghats and the importance of continued botanical research.
