  • NASA, the American space agency, has launched a new X-ray mission (IXPE).
  • This historic X-ray mission was launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
  • This mission will be successful in revealing many mysterious events taking place in space. This will aid in the discovery of a plethora of important facts about black holes, supernovae, and the nature of the universe.
  • NASA and the Italian Space Agency are collaborating on this mission.
  • The pioneering mission will allow NASA to look into the origins of X-ray light, a form of high energy light produced during some of the most extreme celestial events like supernova explosions and violent collisions.
  • The mission expands on the work of NASA's flagship X-ray astronomy mission, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, which launched in 1999 and has imaged the remnants of exploded stars, discovered black holes, and more.
