The Mankidia community has become the sixth Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) to get habitat rights over forests in Odisha, known for their traditional skills of rope making, trapping monkeys, and eating.
This Austro-Asiatic community earns its livelihood mainly from the forests and is a semi-nomadic section of the Birhor tribe, which is recognized as a particularly vulnerable tribal group in Odisha.
