Maharashtra has been declared the Best State in the 6th National Water Awards 2024, announced by Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil. Gujarat and Haryana secured the second and third positions, respectively. A total of 46 winners were recognized across 10 categories, including Best District, Village Panchayat, Urban Local Body (ULB), and Institution. The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on 18 November 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Maharashtra’s achievements include Navi Mumbai as the Best ULB and Kanifnath Water User Association (Nashik) ranked second nationally. Through initiatives like Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan and urban water recycling, Maharashtra has set a model for sustainable water management and the vision of ‘Jal Samridh Bharat.’
