  • Seo Jae-min, widely known by his stage name Artisan Beats, passed away on February 17 at the age of 47. The news was confirmed by fellow rappers AJ and Minos, his collaborators during the Master Plan Allstarz era. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
  • A first-generation figure in Korean hip-hop, Seo emerged in the late 1990s as a core member of Da Crew and later joined Master Plan Allstarz, collectives central to the rise of South Korea’s underground rap scene. Members of Bulhandang Crew, where he worked as a producer, paid tribute, calling him a foundational influence. Music critic Kang Il-kwon described him as a “living witness” to the birth of Korean hip-hop.
  • Initially performing under the name “Satan,” he later adopted Artisan Beats, reflecting artistic reinvention. Known for dark, experimental production, he continued releasing music in the 2010s, leaving a lasting imprint on South Korea’s hip-hop culture.
