Recognized by the United Nations since 2015, June 19 is commemorated each year as the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. The resolution (A/RES/69/293) highlights the urgency of eradicating conflict-related sexual crimes, honors victims and survivors, and pays tribute to those who have fought and fallen for this cause.
