Amid rising geopolitical tensions, Iran has partly shut down operations at the South Pars gas field—its largest and one of the world’s most productive—after an Israeli airstrike on June 15, 2025, caused a fire. The field, shared with Qatar and located in Bushehr province, is critical to Iran’s energy production and export capacity.
