Indian teacher Rouble Nagi secured the Global Teacher Prize 2026, earning the $1 million award during the World Government Summit in Dubai.
The honour, conferred in the tenth edition by GEMS Education, was presented by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
She was recognised for converting neglected walls into interactive learning murals that teach literacy, numeracy, public health, and environmental awareness.
Over the last 20 years, her art-based education initiatives have helped bring more than one million children into formal schooling. Nagi emerged as the winner among 5,000+ nominations from 139 countries.
Through the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, she has established 800+ learning centres across 100+ underprivileged communities and villages in India.
