In the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, most of India’s leading institutions, including seven IITs, saw a decline. IIT Delhi remains India’s top institute at 59th, dropping from 44th, while IIT Bombay fell from 48th to 71st. IISc Bengaluru held steady at 64th and Chandigarh University improved from 120th to 109th. Universities from China, Singapore, and South Korea surged ahead due to stronger research impact and international engagement. Despite this, India now has 294 institutions listed, reflecting its growing academic footprint in Asia.
