Daily Current Affairs / India Records Sharpest Decline in TB Cases
Category : National Published on: November 15 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s major progress against Tuberculosis after the WHO Global TB Report 2025 confirmed a 21% drop in TB incidence since 2015, nearly twice the global average. The report highlights significant gains, including reduced TB mortality, a 90% treatment success rate, and a sharp fall in “missing cases.” These improvements are driven by a ten-fold rise in the TB programme budget, advanced diagnostics like AI-enabled X-rays and rapid molecular tests, and strong community support through the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative. Under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, India diagnosed over 26 lakh TB patients in 2024, bringing undiagnosed cases down from 15 lakh to under one lakh.
