The first India–Sri Lanka Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on agriculture was held on October 30, 2025, at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, co-chaired by Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Mr. D.P. Wickramsinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Sri Lanka. The meeting focused on cooperation in agricultural mechanization, organic farming, seed sector development, entrepreneurship, soil health, market access and climate-resilient agriculture. Both nations agreed to explore joint research, digital agriculture and capacity building. The Sri Lankan delegation also visited IARI, Pusa, reaffirming the shared goal of strengthening food and nutritional security.
