  • The central government has announced the addition of four new Ramsar sites in India, taking the total number to 89.
  • Sakkarkottai Bird Sanctuary and Theerthangal Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Khecheopalri Wetland in Sikkim and Udhwa Lake in Jharkhand have been included in the list of Ramsar sites in the country.
