Under the National Quantum Mission, IIT Bombay’s P-Quest Group has developed India’s first indigenous Quantum Diamond Microscope (QDM) for dynamic magnetic field imaging, marking a major breakthrough in quantum sensing and earning the nation its first patent in this field. Announced at ESTIC 2025, the QDM uses nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond to enable nanoscale, three-dimensional magnetic imaging. The technology has significant applications in neuroscience, materials research, and non-destructive evaluation of advanced semiconductor chips. The team aims to integrate QDM with AI/ML-based imaging to advance chip diagnostics, biological imaging, and geological studies.
