GeM and UN Women Collaborate to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and UN Women signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the participation of women entrepreneurs in public procurement. Under GeM’s Womaniya initiative, women-led businesses from the informal sector will gain better market access, mentorship, and training. UN Women will provide global best practices, training materials, and validation support, while GeM will sensitize government buyers and facilitate entrepreneurship opportunities. The collaboration strengthens hyper-local market linkages and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 5, promoting gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.
