Delhi Launches Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana to Support Girls’ Education

The Delhi government will roll out the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana from April 1 to reduce school dropouts among girls from economically weaker families. The scheme provides staged deposits of ₹56,000 that can grow to about ₹1 lakh with interest, credited to Aadhaar-linked accounts. Payments are tied to school milestones and higher education completion, encouraging continued enrolment. Eligibility is restricted to low-income Delhi families, covering up to two daughters per household.
