The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of the International Potato Centre’s South Asia Regional Centre (CSARC) at Singna in Agra. The new centre, under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, aims to enhance food and nutrition security, increase farmers’ incomes, and generate jobs by improving productivity and value addition in potato and sweet potato through better post-harvest management and research.
