  • Gopal Vittal, Vice President and Managing Director of telecommunications company Bharti Airtel and Vice Chairman of GSMA, has been appointed as the acting chairman of the GSMA board. 
  • This appointment comes after the resignation of Telefonica's Chairman and CEO Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete from the company. Due to his resignation, he was no longer able to remain in the position of GSMA chairman.
