Recently the Prime Minister of India held talks with the President of Ukraine to discuss India's G-20 Presidency and Ukraine's "10 Point Peace Plan".

In early December 2022, Ukraine urged the leaders of the G-7 countries to support the idea of their global peace summit in winter, which would focus on peace planning "as a whole or on certain specific points". .

Ukraine's 10-point peace plan:

Ukraine first announced its peace formula at the November 2022 summit of the Group of 20 major economies. The following are the demands under the scheme:

Food Security: This includes exporting grain from Ukraine to the world's poorest countries and ensuring food security.

Energy Security: Focusing on price restrictions on Russian energy resources, as well as helping Ukraine restore its electricity infrastructure, half of which has been damaged by Russian aggression.

Release of all prisoners and exiles, including prisoners of war and children sent to Russia.

Restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and its ratification by Russia in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities, restoration of Ukraine's state borders with Russia.

Establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian war crimes, including justice.

Protection of the environment with a focus on restoring water treatment facilities.

Conflict prevention and creation of a security framework in the Euro-Atlantic region, including guarantees for Ukraine.

Document signed by the parties involved, confirming the end of the war.

World reaction to the Peace Formula:

  • Russia rejected Ukraine's peace offer and reiterated that it would not give up territory around 1/5th of Ukraine occupied by troops.
  • Ukraine's military has received billions of dollars in aid from Western countries led by Washington, as well as helping to develop Ukraine's electrical infrastructure.
  • But many countries have been more cautious in their response to Ukraine's peace plan and the proposed peace summit.
  • The G7 leaders stated that they were determined to bring peace to Ukraine "in accordance with their rights enshrined in the United Nations Charter".
