  • Every year on October 14, World Standards Day, also known as International Standards Day, is commemorated around the world.
  • The goal of the day is to enhance consumer, regulatory, and business awareness of the relevance of standards in the global economy.
  • On October 14, 1946, in London, World Standard Day was established in the presence of well-known specialists and delegations from roughly 25 countries. However, the day was first celebrated in 1970 by Faruk Sunter, the then President of IES (International Organization for Standardization) to facilitate standardization in the industrial sectors.
  • The theme for World Standard Day 2021 is ‘Standards for sustainable development goals- a shared vision for a better future’.
