  • Every year World Pulses Day is celebrated on 10 February to spread public awareness of the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production.
  • This year, the theme of World Pulses Day is “Pulses to empower youth in achieving sustainable agri-food systems”.
  • The day has been celebrated since 2019 by the United Nations (UN).
  • Legumes or pulses are seeds cultivated out of leguminous plants for food. Beans, peas, and lentils are the most common and most consumed types of pulses.
