  • Eminent journalist and former diplomat H K Dua passed away on March 4, 2026, at a private hospital in New Delhi at the age of 88, marking the end of an era in Indian journalism known for sharp political analysis and editorial independence.
  • Born on July 1, 1937, Dua served in distinguished public roles, including India's Ambassador to Denmark (2001–2003), Nominated Member of the Rajya Sabha (2009–2015), and Media Advisor to Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and H. D. Deve Gowda.
  • He held the rare distinction of leading three major national newspapers, serving as Editor of Hindustan Times, Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express and The Tribune, and Editorial Advisor at The Times of India across a career spanning four decades.
  • Dua was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his outstanding contributions to journalism and public life, remaining throughout his career a steadfast advocate for press freedom and responsible, independent reporting.
