U.S. House passes bill banning transgender students from women's sports

  • On 14 January 2025, the Republican-led US House of Representatives passed a bill that prohibits transgender players in educational institutions from participating in women's and girls' sports.
  • The bill defines sex on the basis of "reproductive biology and genes at birth", and prohibits transgender athletes from participating in teams according to their gender identity.
