Telangana has created India's first smartphone-based e-voting system.

  • In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pushed the world into all-digital operations, Telangana has developed the country's first smartphone-based e-voting solution.
  • The solution has been developed and tested successfully, and a dry run in the form of a dummy election is being held in Khammam district, with registration on the application open from October 8-18 and dummy voting on October 20.
  • The initiative was spearheaded by the Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC), with implementation assistance from the state's IT Department's Emerging Technologies Wing and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC).
