SC collegium recommends appointment of Justice Arun Palli as Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh HC

  • The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Arun Palli, a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
  • This decision comes in view of the upcoming retirement of the current Chief Justice, Tashi Rabstan, on April 9.
  • Born on September 18, 1964, Justice Palli obtained his LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) degree in 1988 from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and began practicing law at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
  • During his legal career, he handled cases related to civil, criminal, constitutional, industrial, and labor laws.
  • Justice Palli served as the Additional Advocate General of Punjab from September 2004 to March 2007. He was later designated as a Senior Advocate in April 2007.
