The 71st National Film Awards celebrated 12th Fail as the Best Feature Film of the year. Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji were conferred Best Actor/Actress honours in leading roles. In the supporting actor category, Vijayaraghavan and Muthupettai Somu Bhaskar jointly received the Best Male Actor award, while Urvashi and Janki Bodiwala shared the Best Female Actor accolade. Sudipto Sen was honoured with the Best Director award for The Kerala Story (Hindi). Ashish Bende’s Aatmapamphlet (Marathi) won Best Debut Film. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar, was awarded Best Popular Film. Sam Bahadur by Meghna Gulzar earned recognition for promoting national, social, and environmental values. Naal 2 (Marathi), directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, was adjudged Best Children’s Film, while Hanu-Man (Telugu) secured the award for excellence in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics.
