  • He has abolished the smoking ban law in the country.
  • The Prime Minister said that the ban was being abolished because the government was not able to get benefits from the tax.
  • He also emphasized on the problem of black marketing.
  • He said that after lifting the ban, the government will receive tax on the sale of cigarettes.
  • The 'generational smoking ban' legislation was introduced by former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to ban the sale of cigarettes to anyone born after 2008.
  • The Generational Smoking Ban Act was enacted last year and bans the sale of tobacco to anyone born after 2008.
