IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1- 2026: Notification, Eligibility, Exam pattern, Important Dates

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, or IBPS, is a national exam held once a year. The IBPS conducted a Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for RRB to recruit applicants for Group “A” - Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group “B” - Office Assistant (Multipurpose) positions.

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online using the official website.Candidates who pass these exams will be considered for the IBPS RRB Officers Scale-I. In addition to English and Hindi, the preliminary and main examinations will be held in other regional languages.

Essential Educational Qualifications: 

Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager)

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent

Preference will be given to the candidates having degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal

Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy;

Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s*

Desirable: working knowledge of Computer.

Age limit (As on 01.09. 2026):

For Officer Scale- I (Assistant Manager):

The applicants must be between the ages of 18 years - 30 years.

*Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.09.1996 and later than 01.09.2008 (both dates inclusive)*.

Scheme of Preliminary Examinations:

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I: Important Notes for all of the above examinations::

I. The questions on the papers will be of the objective type.

II. Each question will be carried one mark.

III. Each incorrect answer will 1/4th marks deduction.

IV. Candidates must qualify in both examinations by achieving IBPS-determined cut-off marks.

Cut Off Score:

For Officers Scale-I - To be considered for an interview, each candidate will need to achieve a minimum score in each test of the Online Main examination.

Interview: 

Officers Scale-I, II, and III interviews will be conducted by Participating Banks and organised by the Nodal Bank in each State/UT with the assistance of IBPS. The shortlisted candidates will be informed of the centre, address of the venue, time and date of the interview in the call letter.

• The total number of marks allotted for the interview is 100.

• The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will be as per the guidelines for Officers Scale I, II, and III.

• The weightage (ratio) of the Online Main Examination and also the interview will be 80:20.

Provisional Allotment

On completion of the interview process/main examination, based on the vacancies to be filled as per the professional requirements of RRBs and reported to IBPS, the shortlisted candidates will be given merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Reservation Policy Guidelines, as well as other guidelines issued by the government of India and others from time to time, administrative exigencies, etc.

Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager / PO) — Group A:The Officer Scale-I (PO) post features 4,256 total vacancies for entry-level managerial positions. Applicants require a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (preference for Agriculture, Finance, or IT) with local language proficiency and an age range of 18 to 30 years. Selection involves a three-tier framework: an objective Prelims exam (80 marks), a descriptive/objective Mains exam (200 marks), and a Personal Interview. Final merit is calculated using an 80:20 weighted score between the Mains exam and the Interview. The application fee remains ₹175 for SC/ST/PwBD and ₹850 for general/OBC candidates.
